ZK-rollups work by “rolling up” multiple transactions off-chain and generating a cryptographic proof which is then broadcasted to the main chain.

Fees are a fraction of the cost of a normal on chain transaction, as they are evenly distributed amongst the multiple transactions included in the roll-up.
